Remember the story of how Queen Vashti was deposed and Esther was made Queen?
“King Xerxes was in high spirits and he commanded to bring before him Queen Vashti, wearing her royal crown, in order to display her beauty to the people and nobles, for she was lovely to look at. But when the attendants delivered the king’s command, Queen Vashti refused to come. Then the king became furious and burned with anger. “According to law, what must be done to Queen Vashti?” he asked. “She has not obeyed the command of King Xerxes that the eunuchs have taken to her.”
Then Memukan, one of the Kings attendants replied in the presence of the king and the nobles,
“Queen Vashti has done wrong, not only against the king but also against all the nobles and the peoples of all the provinces of King Xerxes. For the queen’s conduct will become known to all the women, and so they will despise their husbands and say, ‘King Xerxes commanded Queen Vashti to be brought before him, but she would not come.’ This very day the Persian and Median women of the nobility who have heard about the queen’s conduct will respond to all the king’s nobles in the same way. There will be no end of disrespect and discord.
“Therefore, if it pleases the king, let him issue a royal decree and let it be written in the laws of Persia and Media, which cannot be repealed, that Vashti is never again to enter the presence of King Xerxes. Also let the king give her royal position to someone else who is better than she.”
When Queen Vashti refuse to come, she was removed as Queen. The King had to seek another to carry the crown and rule alongside him. Many of his wives began to prepare to go in and to please the King. Before they could go forward, they each had to be prepared!
Esther is one that stands out, as each of the young women’s turn came to go in to King Ahasuerus… after they had completed twelve months’ preparation. According to the regulations for the women, this is how the days of their preparation apportioned: six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with perfumes and preparations for beautifying women. Then… Thus prepared, each young woman went to the king.
“And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favor in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.”
THUS PREPARED…Esther became the wife of a King! She didn’t get beheaded, but pleased the one to which she pursued!
God is waiting for a moment in your life when you are finally prepared!
Are you prepared in 2015!
God did not call you to be average! Average is not the call of the Spirit for a Believer. We are called to be ‘above only’, not beneath…to be the head and not the tail! For the tail looks backwards, the head looks forward and we are not to be caught up in our “behind!” (s)God certainly did not call us out of sin, transform our lives, fill us with brilliant gifts, callings, talents and abilities…for us to be mediocre, unexceptional, second-rate, middling!
To live successfully, is to approach life as any other grand adventure…first-rate, outstanding and first-class!
If you are going to go further this year, in your life, you must not be mediocre. MEDIOCRE: average, common, half-do and halfway. Even as we age, we still do not have to be unexceptional because of our age!
What’s stopping you from fulfilling your passion? If that passion still fills your heart, then God still has intent and purpose for what He called you to do. However, to do what you are called to do…you must have the right tools, at whatever age!
Preparation is your best tool! In the areas to which you lack, you must have:
- The right Equipping
- Right Education/Word
- Right Skills/Endowment. What are you doing to get prepared and/or stay prepared in 2015?
Mediocrity? God will not accept mediocrity from any of us!
Why should He release another assignment in our life that you are not prepared for? You have to be ready and prepared for each of your moments! What is it that you need to do in order for God to move through you? He won’t do it until you are prepared. Make all the New Year’s Resolutions you want, but God will not change His statutes and principles, nor accept another sacrifice other than the one He demands. Humble yourself and go to the one you know has your keys and solutions. Regardless of what you think of God’s choice, they have been set! Be genuine!
Get God’s mind and you will win…every time! He set some…He gave some…for your perfecting!! Submit to that! Stop trying to be the set one when you know that your track record is not indicative of that calling! God is not fooled or mocked! Because, if you fail to properly discern the body of Christ (where people function in the body of Christ…and whether their track record demonstrates their calling and endowment), many will remain sickly among you and many…“sleep!”
If we persist in this unprepared, unrestrained, lascivious pastime activity, of “serving God”, it will lead to an eternity of anguish. We can’t make the word of God of no effect because we think we know better than God!
HOW WILL YOU BETTER PREPARE FOR 2015’S CALL TO SERVICE?
GET IN SHAPE-if you are not in shape, you are a liability to someone!
Spiritual Shape-read, fast, attend church, pray, worship and above all…do the word! No one needs to force you! Stop telling the stories of your hardship and how others treat and value you! Value yourself and submit to God’s description. We all do what we want to do… so there is no grace to keep blaming people for what you refuse to do, to get your life and ministry going. God is not so gullible as to not know what He is doing and where you are at. If you think this, find another God to serve because this one is not the one for you. He is Lord and He knows how He wants things done and through whom! Line up!
Emotional Shape-Let the word renew your thoughts. Become a forgiver in order to restore a relationship. Un-forgiveness drags you down!
Financial Shape-build for your future! Save, Invest, and for God’s sake…learn to trust somebody! I believe sometimes we look too much to people and their abilities, rather than what God is saying to us. We waiver and doubt Him!
Physical Shape-Rest, sleep, exercise…eat right! Reject ‘ole wives tales’….exercise yourself rather unto Godliness. Stop turning a deaf ear to what godliness means…we all know…or can know, what that is. It’s written down for you. Exercise yourself vigorously in all ways in which the body, mind and spirit will stay redeemed!
HAVE PERSEVERANCE-don’t give up on your dream because of your circumstances. Joseph preserved…so can you! (Genesis 39) His circumstances changed a lot, yet he was able to persevere. Don’t let circumstances deter you from your dream. Just because you didn’t get a prayer answered or things didn’t go as “you” expected, do not let obedience go! You can be deeper than that! Satan wants to undermine your faith in God! Trust the one who is The Resurrection! Stand therefore…
EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED-things happen in life that you don’t expect, I know that personally, but also know that we all must still get and stay prepared. None of us have a hall pass to do things as we wish. His grace and favor keeps us standing. Remember, this is not Heaven! We live in a fallen world and unexpected things happen!
ENJOY THE JOURNEY-Take moments to smell the roses, enjoy the gift of earth that’s been given to us. Stay present to the moment and enjoy where God has you and where He’s about to take you!
FORGET WHAT IS BEHIND-get out of the death stage and the grief of who passed on! Let that history go! We loved them, were so enhanced by their life but they will not return until Jesus shows up the second time, if they were a part of His redeemed family! Reach forward for what is ahead by doing something deliberate towards your own future, in order to to help yourself! (intentional action) Get ahead!
The more prepared you are, the more favor and grace will be extended to you. Press forward! Be motivated for the purpose and the call of God on your life. Engage, connect and allow God to take you where He wants to and where you desire to be!
