…Bless the Lord! It is-necessary!
To bless the Lord means to speak well of his greatness and goodness — and really mean it from the depths of your soul.
That authentic speaking about God’s goodness and greatness must come from the soul. (mind, emotions, and your will). Blessing God with the mouth without the soul would be hypocrisy.
Jesus said, “This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me” (Matthew 15:8)
Bestowing honor on someone can be a voluntary action on the part of everyone!
“Soul, acknowledge the greatness and goodness of God. Join my mouth, and let us bless the Lord with our whole being. Soul, we are not going to be a hypocrite!”
Father, I start this prayer with honoring you. You are worthy of all my praise. I honor you for the love, mercy, compassion, and forgiveness you have extended to me and my family. We are not worthy to receive anything, but you are worthy of everything.
Help me to see that by honoring you with my life, I bring glory to your name. My life becomes a living sacrifice, because it is my reasonable act of worship.
When I worship you, I give you the honor due your name. When Jesus taught me how to pray, He started off by honoring your name, “Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed is your name…” Your hallowed name means it is honored as being holy.
Again, you are the only one worthy of all honor, glory, and praise. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
