Love is not a feeling! Love is an action! Love is something we do! You can not like somebody and yet do loving things for them!
Why do you think God says to go back and do your first works again? First works? …the actions that were indicative of you at the first” or “the things you did in the very beginning.” We are commanded to love…not just to “like” one another!
We all have had people do mean things to us, but we make the decision to love and to forgive. Forgiveness is a form of love-it is your decision not to punish, for what people have done to you. You may struggle with this, but you must make the decision to love, because Jesus asked you to!
Anyone “fell out of love?”…say you don’t love your spouse anymore? Well…according to the mandate of God…you have to go back and do your first works of love again! God has already given us specifics on the type of people He wants us to be! A people that loves! Loves unconditionally (agape); a love that transcends and persists regardless of circumstance or feeling! WOW!
Love is patient, kind, and is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs done to you. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love is not irritable, neither act as if someone is making them do it! This love is NOT one-sided! Both parties must exhibit this agape! 1Cor. 13
“But I have this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first! Consider how far you have fallen! (go back in your mind to an earlier time when your motivation and relationship had been different), repent (make an about face), and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. Whoever has ears, let them hear… Rev. 2:4
