Far away from fear…

WHOEVER dwells in the “secret place” of the Most High, will rest and live in the shadow of the Almighty:

  • He will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.
  • He will cover you with his feather and under his wings you will find refuge;
  • You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
    nor the plague that destroys at midday
  • A thousand (destroyed by the plagues of Egypt), may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand,
    but it will not come near you.
  • No harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent…For he will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways;
  • You will tread on the lion and the cobra, you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

“The Lord says, “Because he loves me, I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name,  He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.  With long life…I will satisfy him…….Ps. 91

There is great benefit from dwelling in “the secret place of the Most High.” When we choose to leave behind the world’s delights and baits of attraction in favor of a lifestyle of continual spiritual components, God draws near in new ways.

The secret place is a place of retreat in His presence. It is not a place of commonness, rather it is a place of secrecy, as not everybody is able to access and dwell in such a place with Him.

This place is a place of serious and intense seeking of the Almighty; It is not for those who are laid back and cannot wait upon Him; but rather it is a place of earnestly contending for the God-kind of faith.

Imagine being ten years old and finding a secret hiding place under the stairs or in the honeysuckle bushes. You slipped inside, and it felt magical! You felt safe and protected from the world. You imagined that you could live there all the time and no one could find you. Often, you invited your best friend to share it with you, because secret hiding places are better shared with someone you love and trust.

God has a secret hiding place, and He invites each of us to join Him there. Notice that He does not invite us to visit, but to live, move and have our being there! It becomes our address. God invites us to pack up and move to His secret place.

To do so, we must walk away from the clamor and enticements of the world. We must be willing to quiet our hearts before Him and allow Him to investigate those inner recesses that we reveal to no one else. Secret places imply honesty and trust. We cannot join God in His secret place unless we are willing to be transparent and honest with Him.

Time spent in the presence of God reveals our true thoughts and selfish motivations that might otherwise escape unnoticed. From this secret place, the fruit of the Spirit ( love, peace, joy, forbearance, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control), takes root and grows. Against this kind of fruit, there is NO law! We then will start to see our lives from an infinite perspective. Earthly frustrations lose significance.

The secret place of the most high? Is in His Word! Strengthened, unmovable concerning what He says, trusting and confident in Him and His ability to do what no other power can do…unwaivable!
